Your license may be suspended, revoked, or denied based on your past driving record and the points added to your record for driving under the influence. Some suspensions have the requirement that you install an ignition Interlock Device for six months and have it serviced each month before you can be reinstated.
If you accumulate a total of 8 or more points in 18 months, your driving privilege will be suspended.
Your license can be revoked for a year if you accumulate:
- 12 or more points in 12 months
- 18 or more points in 24 months
- 24 or more points in 36 months.
You can also lose your license for 1 year for refusing to let a police officer test you for alcohol or drugs.
If you have had multiple DUIs or the DUI results in an accident or destruction to property, you could be facing serious jail time.
